Welcome to Our Black Friday Counter

Black Friday is here, and with it comes one of the busiest shopping days of the year. At pass_by, we’re excited to introduce our live Black Friday counter—a real-time look into foot traffic across retail stores in the U.S., powered by our advanced store visits model.

What Is the Black Friday Counter?

Our Black Friday counter is built on near-real-time data from retail locations nationwide. Using our proprietary store visits model, we calculate foot traffic across tens of thousands of stores, giving retailers, analysts, and industry watchers an up-to-the-minute pulse on shopping trends.

Think of it as an exit poll for retail—we’re capturing and analyzing representative samples of real-time visits, mapping this data across the broader retail landscape to gauge the shopping momentum as it happens.

Real-Time Insights You Can Trust

While some data takes longer to land, the live counter reflects a carefully curated and representative sample, ensuring accuracy even as the day unfolds. This allows us to provide immediate insights into consumer behavior and shopping trends during Black Friday.

To add context, we’re comparing real-time visit data to the same points in 2023, giving a year-over-year perspective on how the 2024 shopping season stacks up.

What’s Coming at Midnight?

When the shopping day is done, we’ll release the full Black Friday 2024 results at midnight, offering a comprehensive breakdown of retail activity, including:

  • Total year-over-year store visit changes for the U.S.
  • Category-level insights: See which retail segments performed best compared to last year.
  • Brand-level insights: Detailed year-over-year comparisons for key retail brands.

This analysis will provide retailers and analysts with the data they need to understand Black Friday’s impact and how consumer behaviors are evolving.
